There is an immediate need to protect indigenous territories as land rights are under siege and conflicts are rising. In 2021, the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues launched a new global report on Rights to Lands, Territories, and Resources that examines successful practices, continuing obstacles, and proposed strategies to realize indigenous peoples' rights to lands, territories, and resources.
The side event is built around key critical areas of the report and the discussion will be oriented to understand current trends and explore concrete opportunities to scale-up political and financial support to realize indigenous peoples’ rights to lands, territories and resources.
