Conservation Challenge on the Ground: Case Studies on the Impact of Conservation on Indigenous Peoples

Indigenous Peoples as stewards of nature are indispensable partners in reaching the global ambition for biodiversity conservation. The COP 15 provides an opportunity to ensure genuine partnerships with indigenous peoples by addressing the obstacles and challenges that face in advancing sustainable systems of living in harmony with nature. This event will have indigenous leaders present lived experiences of indigenous peoples on the challenges they face relating to conservation measures and activities of states and their partners. It will also include discussions on ways forward to ensure the protection of indigenous peoples' rights and well-being as stewards of nature.

The speakers include indigenous leaders from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Kenya, Thailand, and Nepal.
