Incarceration of Indigenous Peoples: understanding underlying issues and challenges in documentation

Indigenous Peoples Rights International (IPRI) recognizes the long-standing concerns over disproportionate representation of Indigenous Peoples in incarceration.  As the coordinating organization of the Global Initiative to Address and Prevent Criminalization of and Impunity Against Indigenous Peoples that was launched in 2019, IPRI aims to include data on and stories of incarceration in its overall goal of systematic documentation and monitoring of incidents of criminalization of and impunity against Indigenous Peoples.
