The Indigenous Peoples Rights International (IPRI), Indigenous Peoples Major Group on Sustainable Development (IPMG), and Documentation Center for Indigenous Peoples (DOCIP) are calling on Indigenous Peoples organizations, networks, and institutions to participate in the public call for inputs into the proposed law on mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence. This law would make EU companies accountable for human rights abuses and environmental harm in their supply chains. These inputs will feed into the European Commission’s call for submission of proposals on how the law should work to help reduce abuses in all countries around the world.
Read more about the proposed law on this link.
IPRI, IPMG and DOCIP circulated a letter to call for inputs and endorsements to the proposed law, with specific proposals on the respect of Indigenous Peoples’ rights, especially to their right to land, territories and resources, and to Free Prior and Informed Consent.
