IPRI, BHRRC & partners: Letter to UNFCCC & State parties pre-COP27 - Invitation to sign on [Deadline by 06/10]

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre and the Indigenous Peoples Rights International (IPRI), together with a number of allies, have prepared an open letter addressed to UNFCCC and State parties, prior to COP27.

The energy transition needs to be just, in particular, for Indigenous Peoples and other frontline communities. The letter raises human rights issues arising alongside the renewable energy value chain, from the extraction of transition minerals to renewable energy projects. It also brings attention to the attacks that human rights defenders are facing as they raise concerns.

This will be delivered to UNFCCC and State parties. It will also be circulated through various social media channels, to journalists and through a virtual media conference.

Please feel free to circulate the letter to your networks among climate justice, environmental, corporate accountability, and human rights groups.
