Indigenous Peoples organizations filed the 24th petition for certiorari and prohibition before the Supreme Court. Currently, there are 37 petitions that have been forwarded to the Supreme Court seeking to nullify the ATA.

The ATA serves as a legal weapon by the state to warrant further attacks against defenders of rights, lands, and the environment. In fact, two Aetas - Jepoy Garung and Junior Ramos-Urbano from Zambales are first persons known to be charged under the law.
